About Applied Behavior Center for Autism - Indianapolis Westside
Applied Behavior Center for Autism (ABC) is Indiana's longest-running ABA therapy provider, founded in 1997 by Sherry Michael after her son's 1995 autism diagnosis. The Indianapolis Westside location is a 4,814 sq. ft. facility at 6865 Parkdale Place, Indianapolis, IN, serving children from age 6 through teens with center-based ABA therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and social skills programs. The facility features individualized therapy rooms, group instruction spaces, an indoor gym with a two-story treehouse, an outdoor fenced playground, and a dedicated LIFE (Learning in Functional Environments) program area with daily living skills amenities. The organization operates 17+ centers across Indiana with over 200 employees, and its founder was instrumental in passing Indiana's Autism Insurance Mandate. ABC maintains an in-house research department and offers a structured 7-level therapist and 8-level BCBA career progression system. In 2023, the company agreed to a $2 million civil settlement with the U.S. Attorney's Office related to alleged upcoded TRICARE and Medicaid billing claims, though no patient harm was found.
