Lutheran Hospitals and Homes Society
Founding Organization
In 1941, the Lutheran Hospitals and Homes Society purchased the Good Samaritan School in Fargo, ND, renamed it the Crippled Children's School, and moved it to Jamestown, North Dakota. Dr. Anne Carlsen, a quadruple congenital amputee, joined as a teacher and later became superintendent. The organization was renamed Anne Carlsen Center in her honor in 1980 and became independently operated in 2003.
