About Alta California Regional Center
Alta California Regional Center (ACRC) is a private, non-profit corporation operating under contract with the State of California Department of Developmental Services to coordinate services for individuals with developmental disabilities pursuant to the Lanterman Act. ACRC serves over 36,000 clients across ten Northern California counties (Alpine, Colusa, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, Sierra, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba) with a network of over 2,000 authorized service providers and more than 800 employees. IMPORTANT: ACRC is NOT a direct ABA therapy provider. It is a government-funded Regional Center that coordinates, funds, and refers individuals to ABA and other developmental disability services through vendored providers and health plan coordination. ACRC connects eligible clients with Behavioral Health Treatment (ABA) services through Medi-Cal Fee-For-Service providers, Managed Care health plans, or private insurance. It also coordinates Behavioral Intervention Services (BIS) which utilize ABA interventions for severe behaviors. ACRC was established circa 1970 as part of the statewide regional center system created by the Lanterman Act of 1969, and operates with an annual budget exceeding $799 million (FY 2024). It is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit (EIN 94-1720511).
