Pygmalion School was a private, nonprofit special education day school in Staunton, Virginia, operated by People Places, Inc. It served students referred from surrounding public schools who experienced learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral challenges, autism spectrum disorder, and other school challenges. After 47 years of operation, the school permanently closed on December 15, 2023, citing the combined impact of COVID-19, staffing challenges, facility changes, and a lower-than-expected student census. Waynesboro Public Schools absorbed the remaining students and hired several former Pygmalion staff.
