About Children's Institute for Learning Differences
Children's Institute for Learning Differences (CHILD) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit therapeutic day school in Renton, WA, founded in 1977. It serves grades 2-12 students with severe emotional, social, and behavioral challenges (including autism, ADHD, sensory processing disorders, and anxiety) who have not been able to succeed in traditional school settings. Students are placed by partner school districts across King, Pierce, Snohomish, and Kitsap counties and receive special education plus school-based speech, occupational, and mental health therapy, with the goal of transitioning back to their home district within 1-3 years.
