About AHRC New York City
AHRC New York City is one of the largest nonprofit organizations in the nation serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Founded in 1948 by a group of parents, AHRC NYC now supports over 15,000 individuals annually through more than 150 programs across all five boroughs of New York City. The organization is a chapter of The Arc New York. While AHRC NYC is primarily a comprehensive disability services provider, it operates the HOPE Continuum for children with autism spectrum disorders (ages 3-21), which uses Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methodology emphasizing incidental learning and spontaneity. ABA is one component within a much broader array of services including residential, employment, clinical, educational, and recreational programs.
