Unethical, chaotic management
Reviews cite unethical practices from administration, chaotic management, and confusing pay structure. Students with more severe deficits were ignored by teachers during pandemic, forcing behavior technicians to become teachers without teacher-level pay.

Great mission but poor execution
Staff are well-trained and work 1:1 or 1:2 with students, building real relationships. However, school is severely understaffed for admitted students with high needs. Pay is low and communication from leadership is lacking.

Wonderful mission and community
APL has a great staff and parent community and is involved in the overall Seattle community. The school serves an important mission with nothing else like it in the Seattle area. Many families benefit from having the school available.

High turnover and no training
High turnover rate with no trainings or detailed programs for new staff. Pay is low for the amount of hours spent working. Administration's hiring choices were described as mind-boggling.

Salary difficult to live on in Seattle
Communication was lacking, the salary was difficult to live on in Seattle, and some of the administration's hiring choices were mind-boggling. However, coworkers are good people and the work is meaningful.
