LBA: Coursework in applied behavior analysis consistent with BACB requirements. Master's degree in behavior analysis, psychology, or related field. LABA: BCaBA coursework requirements (bachelor's degree pathway).
LBA: Supervised experience as required by BACB (1,500+ hours). LABA: Supervised experience as required by BACB (1,000+ hours). Alternative for psychologists: 1,500 hours direct client contact in ABA after doctoral degree.
Must pass BACB certification examination (BCBA exam for LBA, BCaBA exam for LABA). No additional state exam required.
Biennial renewal, expires July 1 of even-numbered years. Renewal applications due by June 1. $150 renewal fee. Must present evidence of meeting BACB continuing education requirements (32 CEUs including 4 ethics for BCBA). $40 late fee for lapsed licenses.
