Education Requirements

LBA: Must meet BACB BCBA requirements - master's degree in behavior analysis or related field with approved coursework. LABA: Must meet BACB BCaBA requirements. RBT: Must hold BACB RBT credential.

Must meet BACB supervised fieldwork requirements: 1,500-2,000 hours for BCBA depending on supervision level.

Must pass BACB certification examination PLUS Nevada Jurisprudence Exam covering state laws and regulations (NRS Chapter 641D/437).

Biennial renewal by January 1 of odd-numbered years. Must maintain valid BACB certification. CE requirements follow BACB standards (32 CEUs every 2 years). Suicide prevention CE (2 hours) NOT required after June 30, 2026. Effective July 1, 2026 updated renewal requirements per NRS 641D.

Initial License (LBA/LABA): $450. Biennial Renewal LBA: $550. Biennial Renewal LABA: $425. Biennial Renewal RBT: $100. Inactive Status: $100. Duplicate License: $25. Name Change: $25. Dishonored Check: $35. Materials: $25.

BACB certification (BCBA/BCaBA/RBT) is required for state licensure. Must maintain valid BACB certification for license renewal. Have BACB notify the Board of certification status.

Nevada was one of the first states to license behavior analysts (2009, with Oklahoma). Nevada Jurisprudence Exam required (covers NRS 641D/437). Board became independent October 2021 via SB 217 (previously under ADSD). LiveScan fingerprints required. RBT registration required for practice. NABA (Nevada ABA) is the state professional organization.

SB 217 (81st Session) moved board from ADSD to independent Nevada Board of Applied Behavior Analysis effective October 2021. July 1, 2026 updated renewal requirements. Suicide prevention CE (2 hours) not required after June 30, 2026.

Nevada was a pioneer in behavior analyst regulation (2009). Key features: state-specific Jurisprudence Exam required, RBT registration required (many states don't regulate RBTs), relatively high fees ($450 initial, $550 biennial renewal).
