Detailed Requirements
Must hold master's degree or higher from accredited institution in behavior analysis, psychology, education, or related field meeting BACB standards. Doctoral or Ed.S. degrees also accepted.
Must complete BACB supervised fieldwork: 1,500 hours Concentrated (10% supervised) or 2,000 hours Standard (5% supervised).
Must pass BCBA National Examination (175 questions, 4 hours) at Pearson VUE centers in Baton Rouge, Metairie, or New Orleans. MUST ALSO pass Louisiana Jurisprudence Examination ($75) covering state laws and regulations.
Annual renewal by December 31. Renewal period opens in October. CE Requirements: LBAs - up to 32 CEUs every 2 years; SCaBAs - 20 CEUs every 2 years (varies by original license date). Must submit renewal forms, fees, and CE proof.
Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA): $400. State Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (SCaBA): $250. Temporary Licensure: $125. Line Technician Registration: $50. Louisiana Jurisprudence Exam: $75. Annual Renewal LBA: $400. Annual Renewal SCaBA: $250. Annual Renewal Line Tech: $50.
