No state-specific requirements. Follow BACB certification requirements: Master's degree or doctorate in ABA, psychology, education, or related field with minimum 270 hours of behavior analysis coursework.
No state-specific requirements. Follow BACB certification requirements: 2,000 hours supervised fieldwork or 1,500 hours concentrated fieldwork.
No state exam required. Must pass the BACB certification examination (175 questions, 4 hours). Testing available at Pearson VUE centers in Boise, Pocatello (Idaho State University), and Rexburg (BYU-Idaho Testing Center).
No state renewal. BACB certification renewal every 2 years with 32 CEUs (4 in ethics, 3 additional in supervision for those who supervise).
No state fees. BACB fees: $245 application fee, $215 biennial recertification fee.
BACB certification is the sole requirement to practice in Idaho. Without state-level regulation, there is no extra application process beyond BACB certification, no state-specific CE requirements, and no reciprocity concerns when moving to Idaho.
Idaho is one of approximately 11 states without state licensure for behavior analysts. As a rural state with a high percentage of newly certified behavior analysts, some practitioners can feel isolated. Idaho State University is the first and only university in Idaho to offer an ABAI-Verified Course Sequence program. IdABA (Idaho Association for Behavior Analysis) provides mentorship and support programs.
IdABA officially signed their bylaws in 2019 and became an ABAI affiliate chapter in 2022. The association closed 2024 with 90 members. No state licensure proposals currently under consideration.

Idaho is a rural state with no state licensure requirement. Idaho State University became the first Idaho university to offer an ABAI-VCS program. IdABA (founded 2019, ABAI affiliate 2022) provides mentorship programs specifically designed to support isolated practitioners in rural areas. The association hosts virtual journal clubs for CEUs. 90 members as of 2024.
