Georgia requires mandatory state licensure for behavior analysts and assistant behavior analysts. Applicants must hold current BACB certification (BCBA or BCaBA). Education Requirements

Must meet education requirements through BACB certification pathway. Master's degree required for BCBA certification with approved coursework in behavior analysis.

Supervision requirements based on BACB certification standards. The Georgia Board has not established additional state-specific supervision requirements at this time.

Must pass the BACB certification examination. No additional state exam required.

License renewal fees are waived until August 31, 2027 to ease initial costs. BACB certification must remain active. Specific renewal cycle and CEU requirements to be established by the Board.

Application fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. Payment by money order, personal check, or cashier check payable to Georgia Behavior Analyst Licensing Board. Cash not accepted. Renewal fees waived until August 31, 2027.

BACB certification (BCBA or BCaBA) is required for state licensure. All applicants must be certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. The Board defers supervision requirements to BACB standards.

Georgia established licensure in 2022 with a phased implementation. Notarized citizenship verification required with application. Direct transcript submission required. Temporary license available for out-of-state practitioners for up to 30 days within a calendar year (requires criminal background check). Application deadline extended to September 30, 2025. Board office relocated to 3920 Arkwright Rd., Suite 195, Macon, GA 31210.

Additional Information

Georgia is one of the newer states to implement behavior analyst licensure (2022). The state has approximately 4,948 total behavior analysts, with 1,112 license-eligible (69 BCBA-Ds, 856 BCBAs, 82 BCaBAs). RBTs are not eligible for licensure under current law.
